Jay's Second Season 5 Mock Draft

03/24/2020

After some feedback, remembering some forgotten players, and being alerted about some errors in my information, I feel it is right to put out an updated mock draft as soon as possible. This is likely not going to be my last, and likely will still have some issues with it, but hopefully this one will be a lot better!

#1 - Pittsburgh Pirates

P Alex Curvingsonworth

Over the last night, I have become more confident in the idea of Alex Curvingsworth being the first pick. She is already in yellow, which means she has basically been wearing a Pittsburgh uniform this whole time, and I am confident Pittsburgh will pick a pitcher. There is a reason they traded up to the first overall pick, and I think that's because they took a shine to the promising prospect. Anonymous sources back it up, after all!

#2 - Toronto Blue Jays

LF/1B Doc Crudelly

With each hour that passes, Doc Crudelly is looking to me like a better and better prospect. when analyzing the Blue Jays and their small roster, I look for who they need in terms of depth. They could use a pitcher, but considering Crudelly's activity and Toronto's dire lack of first base talent, this could prove to be a great choice for them.

#3 - Seattle Mariners

P dick richards

While the Mariners need second basemen and could take a shot with Semenhands, their rotation could use more steady, reliable arms. No one is more reliable and active than dick richards, who I had admittedly slept on in my first mock.

#4 - Atlanta Braves

CF/RF Guido Ligiorno

I almost got beat up for suggesting that Atlanta would pick a pitcher, so I won't make that mistake again. With the lack of outfielders currently employed by the Braves, and the outstanding activity shown by Ligiorno, he could be a great pick at this point.

#5 - Colorado Rockies

P Alexander Hamilton II

I really wanted it to be Gang Weed, but on re-evaluation I think the Rockies will take a pitcher.  They only have three right now, which is a small amount these days. Hamilton II is arguably the most valuable pitcher in the draft at this point, so they could pick him, but there are plenty of solid players to choose from.

#6 - Houston Colt .45s

SS/2B Joey Semenhands

I will keep this pick the same, for the same reasons. I will correct though that Semenhands is not a vet. He just apparently REALLLLLY likes Pokemon.

#7 - Milwaukee Brewers

3B/SS Cali Guerensk

Both of Milwaukee's projected picks when they held the first overall have been taken as of this point in my mock. I have had Cali Guerensk fall entirely out of the abundance of 3Bs and SSs on previous rosters, and if this ends up happening, the Brewers should definitely consider snagging the extremely active prospect. They have plenty of shortstops, but their 3B position has more of an opening to fill. They could alternatively go for a pitcher, but I couldn't stand to make Guerensk drop any further.

#8 - New York Mets

P Cy Hadd Jr.

Sources close to me have insisted on Cy Hadd Jr.'s fondness of the Mets, and the club has reportedly had interest in the pitcher in the past. Whether or not that is still the case, or if Hadd is a good enough talent at this point, remains to be seen. This seems like as good a pair as any, however.

#9 - New York Yankees

CF/LF Zachary Hommes

The Yankees need outfielders, and I believe Hommes is the best available when it comes to activity. He would fit well into their roster, and has over 1,500 Discord posts.

#10 - Texas Rangers

SS/3B Tommy Tightpants

I will keep this pick the same, as I have no reason to change it if Tightpants is still at this place. He would be a fantastic fit for Texas, and they should take him if he falls this far (which he may not).

#11 - St. Louis Cardinals

P Brusdar Gatorade

Brusdar Gatorade is a pitcher who has become very active as of late, hard for the Cardinals to ignore at this place in the draft. I still believe St. Louis HAVE to pick a pitcher here, and the left-hander would be a great choice. He has pitched 11.1 innings in college, among the highest, so he has shown himself a resilient arm, and is generally a cool dude.

#12 - Montreal Expos

3B/LF Gang Weed

I could see the Expos drafting someone with LF playability. with all three of their left-field eligible players equaling the same amount of plate appearances as their player with the most plate appearances. They could use someone who could be a stalwart at the position.

#13 - Los Angeles Angels

 P Tabasco Greensauce

I am still pretty high on Tabasco Greensauce. The Angels need a little bit of everything, but nothing is more pertinent for them than acquiring some pitchers, and I believe Greensauce is the best remaining pitcher for this mock.

#14 - Oakland Athletics

1B/3B/C Dart Ragusa

I will keep this the same. I believe Ragusa will go at the top half of the draft, and the Athletics could use him.

#15 - Cincinnati Reds

3B/LF Hannibal Bligh

Hannibal Bligh is a guy I could see going at any place in the first round, high or low. His LF playability could be useful for the Reds, who in general have a pretty good coverage with position players. Bligh has 2 hits and a walk in college baseball, including a home run, so he has shown himself to provide the whole package in his short playing career.

Remainder of Round One:

#16 - Detroit Tigers - CF/RF Nicholas Fouss

#17 - Minnesota Twins - P Tristan Leung

#18 - Chicago White Sox - P Etsuko Rune

#19 - Miami Marlins - LF/RF Kirby Birch

#20 - Cincinnati Reds - P Brian Taylor

#21 - Boston Red Sox - 2B/RF Dermot Mulveiny

#22 - Cleveland Indians - 1B/3B Drax Frost

#23 - Colorado Rockies - RF/CF Monica Clinton

#24 - Baltimore Orioles -  CF/LF Leroy Hawk

#25 - Tampa Bay Rays - P Thomas Nova

#26 - San Francisco Giants - C/3B Zack Markel

#27 - Seattle Mariners - 3B/LF Elmo Seabreeze

#28 - Tampa Bay Rays - RF/1B Late Train Dave Vein

#29 - Kansas City Royals - 1B/3B Almondo Albuteral

#30 - Los Angeles Dodgers - P Hunter Scott

#31 - Montreal Expos - C/3B Jason Varitek
