MLR Players Survey Results - Part 1

12/27/2019

It's time to reveal the results of the Season 4 players survey! This season we had 54 total responses, but since the questions were not required to be answered the total number of responses vary by topic. Without further ado, let's get into the results.

This is part 1 of 3, covering the results of the survey.

Most Intimidating Pitcher

With last years winner, Valeria Lisova becoming the GM of the White Sox the competition is wide open. There were 40 total votes for the most intimidating pitcher, with one fearless player voting for "none."

There was a tie at the top for most intimidating pitcher, with both Seattle's Cal Lidous and Texas' Superbone Threefinger taking home 6 votes apiece. This outpaced the competition by 2 votes, which is where San Francisco GM and pitcher Darth Vader ended up taking home 3rd place.

LAD's Geno "Mooch" Scaramucci, STL's Filib Al'anhar Jr, MTL's Haydn Werfer, MIN's River Ride and CLE's Pickle Rick Vaughan were the remaining pitchers to receive 2 votes. One park also garnered a vote, and you guessed it, it's the black hole of offense that is Polo Grounds.

Most Intimidating Hitter

While the players couldn't come to a consensus about the most intimidating pitcher, there is one hitter that is far and away the most feared. The new Mariner, Dakota Carolina Montana ran away with the voting, accumulating 14 total votes. This reputation is well founded as Montana was the season 2 AL MVP and is hitting .321 with 6 homers this season.

Kansas City slugger, and Season 3 Most Intimidating Hitter, Tyler Gordon got 4 votes, and is the only other hitter to receive more than 2 votes. Only two hitters received two votes as well, KC's Zander Ackley and MIN's Jack Jackie Jackson.

Most Underrated Player

34 different players were named in this poll, and no one gained more than 3 votes. In fact, only one person got more than two. That player is Miami founder turned SS, Lane Drew. The All-Star received one more vote than, ARI's Geof Swrd, MIN's Jack Jackie Jackson, MIL's Gianni, DET's Edward Freeman, CHC Nikola Tefla and MTL Shirley Sir who tied with 2 votes. There are so many underrated players that aren't recognized throughout the league and the results really show that.

Most Overrated Player

New Cleveland C/3B Joshua Jones was voted the league's most overrated player, with 10 total votes. Jones' slash line of .227/.346/.500 hasn't quite met the expectations the league thinks Jones should be producing. These offensive stats may have been held back by Polo Grounds before his trade to Cleveland.

3 other players received 2 votes, MIA Dirtbag Darrell, SEA Cal Lidous, and NYY GM Limon Cristo and the Miami Marlins as a whole received a vote

Stay tuned next week for part 2 of the players survey results!
